Fashion Production Manager (New York based):

The Production Manager plays a critical role in the day-to-day functioning of the Design and Product Development timeline. The Production Manager will manage the task of developing and costing the line, sourcing, and working closely with the designer to achieve desired target margins. The Production Manager needs to be aware of and strive to meet collection deadlines for both market and inventory deliveries.

Major responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the development process and costing from Design handoff to Market.

  • Uphold key dates for design and production calendar to ensure timely completion of sales samples and line openings.

  • Track all proto samples, mock ups, and reference samples-ensuring all arrive in perfect condition and on time for proto review/fittings.

  • Develop, allocate and track progress on all custom hardware, trims, and fabrications.

  • Manage inventory levels with the ability to understand and act upon financial retail indicators such as sales, gross margin, inventory productivity, sell-through and turn.

  • Develop markdown strategy for a merchandise area based on sell-through percent and planned product life span.

  • Enter and maintain all costing and style information for the entire collection.

  • Resolve daily development and costing issues as they arise.

  • Manage all production and logistic processes on sheets.

  • Act as both accounts receivable and payable for all production and wholesale accounts.

  • Both daily and evening communication with overseas factories ensuring development process are up to date.

  • Collect and compile all necessary spreadsheets for analysis.

  • Price targeting and negotiation to achieve target margins.

  • Plan and allocate merchandise deliveries monthly by retail accounts.

  • Build seasonal linesheets with all required industry information.

  • Independently prepares and presents costing and development options to Designer.


  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 3+ years of manger level experience in product development and production.

  • Strong product development & follow up skills.

  • Extensive proficiency in Excel a plus.

  • Available extended hours as needed in order to complete certain tasks/special projects by a given deadline.

  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do what is necessary; with a general manager/owner mentality and an entrepreneurial drive.

  • Demonstrated ability to have fun and inspire team.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously

  • Organized and resourceful quick study and able to handle a faced paced environment.

  • Handle multiple contending priorities in an energizing environment.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential: clear, organized, and concise.

  • Detail and solution oriented.

  • Leadership skills – be able to lead meetings, conduct self well and consistently represent production dept. and company goals.

  • Ability to work effectively with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
